Paper size

Dimensions are measured between fold lines. Paper thickness and fitting clearance are not added. Choose a slightly larger size than the item you want to hold.

Unfolded dimensions: 120 × 100 mm

Assembly instructions

  1. Cut along the outer solid black line.
  2. Crease every blue dashed line. Raise the four walls with the printed side facing inward.
  3. Fold the four gray glue tabs inward and glue them behind the neighboring walls. Hold them in place until the glue dries.

Templates are generated in your browser. Nothing is autosaved.

What this tool does

Turn measurements into an open tray or envelope you can make from paper. The generated template marks solid cut lines, dashed fold lines, and gray glue areas. Choose A4 or US Letter, then save an actual-size SVG or printable HTML sheet. This tool is useful for small organizers, handmade cards, gift projects, and lessons connecting flat nets with three-dimensional objects.

Common use cases

  • Make a small open tray for craft supplies
  • Create an envelope sized for a handmade card
  • Teach how a flat paper net folds into a useful object

How to use it

  1. Choose an open tray or envelope. Changing the type resets the example dimensions.
  2. Enter width and depth or envelope height in millimeters. For a tray, also enter wall height.
  3. Choose paper and check the unfolded size. Reduce the dimensions if the template does not fit.
  4. Print at actual size or save SVG or HTML. Measure the 50 mm calibration line before cutting.
  5. Cut solid lines and fold dashed lines. Glue the printed gray side of tray tabs; for envelopes, apply glue on the reverse of the gray marks. Follow the assembly order on the page.

Input and output example

Input: Open tray: width 80 mm, depth 60 mm, wall height 20 mm, A4
Output: A 120 × 100 mm unfolded template, with an 80 × 60 mm base surrounded by four walls and glue tabs.

Important notes

  • Width supports 20–180 mm; depth or envelope height supports 20–220 mm. Tray walls support 5–60 mm. Measurements use 0.1 mm steps.
  • Dimensions are measured between fold lines. Paper thickness and clearance are not included; allow a little extra room for the contents.
  • The page reserves space for margins, a legend, and a calibration line. Oversized templates produce an error; they are not shrunk or split across pages.
  • The screen preview is scaled down. Print in portrait at Actual size or 100%, with no margins and headers and footers off. Check the calibration line with a ruler.
  • The tray has no lid. The envelope top flap stays free; fasten it with tape if needed.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my printed template have the wrong dimensions?
Disable Fit to page and select Actual size or 100%. Match the selected paper size, then measure the 50 mm calibration line before cutting.
How do I assemble the envelope?
Keep the printed side inside. Fold the side flaps first, then apply glue behind the gray marks on the unprinted side now facing up. Fold the bottom flap upward onto them. Let it dry, add your card, and close the top flap.
Should I enter the exact size of my item?
Allow a little extra space. Paper thickness and folding make the inside slightly smaller than the fold-to-fold measurements. Try a plain-paper prototype first.
