What this tool does

Compare grocery packages and multipacks with this free unit price calculator. It converts compatible weight or volume units to a common basis and compares the price per 100 g, per 100 mL or per item. Enter the total bundle price and the quantity in each pack to identify the lowest unit price, including when one product uses ounces and another uses grams.

Common use cases

  • Compare a small grocery package with a larger bag
  • Check a single bottle against a multipack
  • Compare metric package sizes with US customary sizes

How to use it

  1. Choose weight, volume or item count and select a currency.
  2. Enter each total bundle price, quantity per pack, unit and number of packs.
  3. Select Compare unit prices to find the lowest unit price.
  4. Add up to six products or copy the comparison for later.

Input and output example

Input: Product A: 500 g for $2.98. Product B: 800 g for $4.50. One pack each.
Output: A costs $0.596 per 100 g; B costs $0.5625 per 100 g. B has the lower unit price.

Important notes

  • Use the same currency and tax or shipping assumptions for every price. Currency conversion, coupons, product quality and expiry dates are not evaluated.
  • Quantity is per pack. Total quantity equals quantity multiplied by pack count; price is the entire bundle price.
  • oz and lb are weight units. US fl oz and US gal are US liquid units, not Imperial volume units. Weight and volume are separate comparisons.
  • Ranks and ties use exact ratios. Displayed unit prices round to 4 decimal places and savings to 2.
  • Compare 2–6 products. Prices allow 0–1 billion and 4 decimals; quantities allow greater than 0 to 1 million and 6 decimals, except whole item counts. Pack counts must be whole numbers from 1 to 10,000. Inputs stay in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter a six-pack?
For six 500 mL bottles, enter 500 mL per pack, 6 packs, and the total price of all six bottles. The total volume is 3,000 mL.
What does the savings percentage compare?
It compares unit prices at equal quantity. It is not the difference between the actual package prices or a guarantee of a particular checkout saving.
Why do matching displayed prices have different rankings?
Ranking uses the exact values before display rounding. A difference beyond the fourth decimal place can produce identical displayed prices but different rankings.
